Hello! I hope you’re having a good Saturday! Today I’m going to talk about my daughter Jenna’s bedroom, and show you some before and after pictures. We’ve lived in our home for nearly 26 years, and as a result, there have been a lot of changes to it. I like to freshen things up from time to time! So let’s get started! First, some before pictures.
I got the bed frame from the Recycler for $35 when Ron and I first got married, about 30 years ago. It had a knotty pine finish and I painted it hunter green. It was in our master bedroom for many years until Jenna was old enough to sleep in her own bed, then we gave it to her. I painted it with flowers and a lighter green on the bedposts. We got the pink quilted bedcovers at Target, part of their shabby chic line, which they’ve had for at least twenty years.
This room has been painted many different times; it’s been yellow, mint green, and as you can see here, pink and yellow.
This is a shot of her thrift store desk, which I painted white and adorned with crystal knobs. I got the chair at an antique shop. This is an old photo– can you see the landline cordless phone on the desk? Haha!!
Now for some Afters:
I got this mirror at Home Goods and painted it to match the new color scheme of creams, beiges, and blues. You can see here that we wallpapered the area above the wainscot in a floral print. Here’s what it looks like up close.
I love how muted the colors are; neutrals have staying power!
Here’s another angle. You can see we added a small chandelier.
I discovered this dresser at a garage sale. I painted it cream and french blue, and spray painted the hardware black. Jenna’s best friend Kristen Huntley painted the flowers on the bottom and sides.
This desk was another antique store find, as was the chair. My motto is don’t be afraid to paint old antique treasures, especially if they’re inexpensive. Paint can make such a difference!
I love the curtain tieback hardware; I gave it an antique white finish.
Here you can see I painted the bed again: the finials are in a soft cream color. And the bedposts are a french blue.
Here is a pic of the bed with Jenna’s name, which I stenciled.
Under the window we created a window seat by putting two sets of cubby shelves together, and topping them with a piece of wood and a custom seat cushion. I attached some moulding in the middle to give it the look of a built-in. Pretty easy and looks good, right?
Here’s a straight on view of the window seat.
Now for the surprising part: this room has become my husband Ron’s home office!
Ron works here a couple days a week now, and I love having him home more!
Well I hope you enjoyed this tour of Jenna’s room. Let me know what you think in the comment section, and if you enjoyed this post please take a moment to subscribe to At Home With Cheri! Have a good weekend!

You are so absolutely amazing. Whenever we decide to make a change, I think “what would Cheri do”. You are such an inspiration. Jenna’s room is beautiful. What does Clark think?? I guess I should ask, “what does Jenna think? I love the new color scheme but the before was beautiful, too.

Hi Patti!! You are so sweet and I appreciate your comments so much!! Jenna loves the room but she doesn’t live here anymore; we’ve kept the room the same for when she comes to visit. Have a good weekend and I hope to see you tomorrow at church!!
