Hi there and Happy 4th of July! Today I thought it would be great if you’d join me for a walk around our local lake. It’s just a five minute drive from my home. Since Covid19 is still upon us we’ll social distance. And let’s bring our dogs!! Let me get Jax and put him in the car. He’s excited to join us!
We’re here! Bridgeport Lake is a small man-made lake built around 1996. I’ve been walking around it since it was built. It takes a half-hour to circle at a leisurely pace— it’s probably a mile and a half long walk. Just long enough for us to catch up!!
Wait till you get a first glimpse of it— it’s so pretty!
The houses around the lake are pricey— depending on the model, values range from the mid-$800,000s to well over a million.
The reflection of the houses on the lake is always a treat for the eyes.
Even though it’s man made, this little lake is home to many creatures. There are turtles,
and geese, ducks, and egrets.
There are also lots of fish, which I see jumping all the time. Unfortunately, fishing is not allowed. But since the lake is filled with reclaimed water, it’s probably not a good idea anyway.
There’s a small ‘lighthouse’ that can be seen from McBean and Newhall Ranch Road, major streets in Valencia. It is purely decorative, but it still gives this charming lake an authentic feel, like we’re in Maine or Cape Cod.
The traditional house designs also lend themselves to an East Coast feel. Look at the bougainvillea here. So lovely!
This little teddy bear was placed here to welcome the many tots who pass by during this time of Covid19. How cute is his mask? Such a sweet gesture!
The homeowners really get into holidays and decorating their homes. Look at all the flags for July 4th!
Here’s a sweet addition to our walk, a tiny free library! Just take a book and leave a book.
And this is the Clubhouse, which can be rented out for events if you live in Bridgeport. There’s a large pool here too. They film a lot around here— some shows you might know are NCIS and Modern Family!
Now we’ve come upon a rose garden. Gorgeous!
The geese around here are a mixed blessing. Many people complain about them because their honking is loud, they poop all over the place, and they can be aggressive. Let’s keep our distance and move past them quickly, shall we?
Now we’ve arrived at the back side of the lake. There’s a pretty stream that runs through here. Our walk is nearing the end. That was fun and it was good to see you!
I hope we can do it again soon!! Have a wonderful holiday weekend. Bye now!
